 The Power Rangers Movie has been working hard to show us that this is a reboot of the 90's series and we should not expect alot of similarities from the Rangers suits, to the Zords and even the Red Rangers Power Sword. The new sword has taken on more of an alien feel similar to the alien designs we have seen in the suits, morphers and zords and is priced at $29.99. PUCHASE TODAY!PACKAGINGThe packaging for the Power Sword is minimal and once the battery pull tab is removed the sword will stay in battle mode on the shelf. The cardboard packaging is easily removed and you are able to put your hand into the handle of the sword . The back of the packaging highlights the two play modes, Training Mode & Battle Mode as well as stating it has lights and sounds.
POWER SWORDThe Power Sword is 24" long and seems to be very close to what we have seen so far based on the NYCC Red Ranger Legacy Movie Figure. The sword has two forms of play "Training Mode" & "Battle Mode", in Training Mode the Red Ranger will guide you in a series of actions and attacks if you complete five of these actions then he congradulates you on completing Ranger training and switches to Battle Mode. In Battle Mode the Power Sword makes various sounds when touched slightly or moved in anyway. This toy is for ages 4 and up so if you are an adult you may have a hard time getting your hand into the handle to hold the sword correctly. That being said, if you want to just have the Power Sword to display it on a shelf then it is a good purchase.  FINAL THOUGHTS
The Power Rangers Movie Red Ranger Power Sword is a decent purchase but I would not make myself crazy looking for one in the stores. Its limited interaction is a bit disappointing and the hole for the hand being too small frustrating since Saban has said this will be a darker more adult version of the 90's series and they have been aiming to please that age group all along. The Power Sword gets 3.5 out of 5 PUNCHES!
