Today we will the new Takara Masterpiece to hit the market, MP-27 Ironhide. Ironhide is modeled after a Nissan Vanette in the Cherry color. If you are unfamiliar with this van that is because it was produced from 1978 to 1988, but you aren't here for the history of the car design you are here for a review which is starting now!

The packaging for MP-27 is similar to others in the line, it is in Japanese with very little most of us can understand except for the style, name and MP number. However even though it is another language you can still get allot from the box art. On the front we see Ironhide in car and robot mode, on the back we see a height comparison (bottom right of box) and we can see that in car mode he will fit inside MP-10 Optimus Prime's trailer. The rest of the box shows us the variety of weapons he comes with and can use as well as his other face piece which we will get to later in this review.

Ironhide comes packaged like the other MP's in the line. He is in car mode, with all of his accessories around and underneath him and his book comes sealed in plastic.

This figure is very well detailed and keeps true to what Ironhide looked like in the show and the van he was designed after. On the roof you can place 1 of 2 weapons and his blasters actually store underneath him in Van mode which is a nice added feature.
For a Masterpiece figure his transformation process is actually very simple taking approximately 20 - 25 minutes to complete. The part movements are easy and even though the instructions are in Japanese the illustrations used are more than enough to get to the end result, Ironhide in robot mode shown below.
Now lets talk about all of these extra parts. Ironhide comes with allot of them.
Here is the list:
  1. Laser Pistols X2
  2. Static Laser Gun
  3. Liquid Shooters X4
  4. Utility Sensor and Chest Image
  5. Missile Launcher
  6. Jet Thruster
  7. Extra Face
Below you will find all of these accessories. Changing of these parts are simple and require very little effort which is great, even changing the facial expression takes only a few seconds and requires just to push on the top of his head slightly.
Now if you are thinking "Gosh where am I going to keep all of these extra pieces with out loosing them?!?" Don't sweat Takara has you covered! MP-27 Ironhide comes with a battle sled this item holds all of the weapons including the extra face piece. It's great to have a place to keep all of these items if you want to display them, or you can just pack them back up in the box they came in.

Mp-27 Ironhide stands approximately 8.5" tall and below we have provided some shots next to other MP figures. Takara has once again stayed true to sizing from the original series with this figure which we feels is a great decision for the collector who wants them all displayed out of the packaging.
Now for the rating of this figure. We always consider allot of different factors before giving a figure a score. This figure gave allot of positives and very few negatives. Mp-27 Ironhide is easy to transform, he is extremely easy to pose giving a variety of displaying options, he comes with multiple accessories and he is scaled well with the other MP figures. That is why we are giving  Takara Masterpiece 27 - Ironhide 5 out of 5 Punches!
