Power Rangers Legacy Communicator : Review

Picture
The Power Rangers Legacy Communicator is a replica of the Communicator seen on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers T.V. series in the 90's. This item is no toy, it is made of a heavy diecast metal, comes complete with lights and sounds from the original series, it is wearable and comes with interchangeable color bands to represent the five original Rangers : Black, Pink, Blue, Yellow & Red. The Legacy Communicator will cost you $69.99 and if you are like me, you will need one to represent each ranger which will cost you a decent amount of money. PUNCH the "Read More" break below to continue!

Packaging

The Legacy Communicator packaging is simplistic, the front has clear plastic in the lightening bolt to show off the Communicator, the side and back show a picture of the watch and the 5 color bands. Once opened the watch and bands are protected by an easily removable piece of plastic.

Functionality

The Legacy Communicator comes with batteries and all you need to do is unscrew the battery door and remove the plastic stopper that is in the way. The colored bands are easily interchangeable and require very little pressure to detach them from the metal watch band. This Legacy accessory is designed to be worn on your wrist but the problem I had was that my wrist is too big for the clasp to reach by about a half inch, the watch does not come with any extenders so I needed to get somebody to model it for the picture. However you should be able to bring it to a watch dealer and have the band extended since it is similar to a regular watch band design.

Lights & Sounds

The Legacy Communicator features lights and sounds that are activated by pressing the "Set" button at the base of the watch face. The communicator will do the signature Mighty Morpher Power Rangers alert beep, as well as original sounds of Zordon calling the rangers, the teleportation noise and if the "Set" button is held down for a few seconds it will play part of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song. You can see some of these features in the video below.

Final Thoughts

The Legacy Communicator is designed very well, the diecast parts on almost the entire design give it a good weight and the design is show accurate. The lights and sounds are great and the inclusion of the extra bands gives you the option to buy just one or buy five and display them all. This is definitely a great display item for any Power Ranger fan. The price point is a bit high at $69.99 but this is most likely because of all the metal used to make it. I have given the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Legacy Communicator 4.5 out of 5 PUNCHES!
